Fall 2007 MoH presents at the PASR Annual Convention and sells new IntiDesign EsCapes line. MoH receives 100 bi-lingual dictionaries from W. PA Rotary District as a contribution to Intiligencia Program. United Friends School, Quakertown, students donate bi-lingual books and webcams to correspond via internet with their Colegio Artesanal fellow students. Students and Spanish language teachers are translating children's picture books for the library in Pimampiro. |

Spring 2006 Cross-cultural exchange is arranged between two Lehigh Valley elementary schools and the El Alisal School in Pimampiro. 83 participating students exchange letters & photos. The 43 gifted PA students make puppets and produce a video featuring puppet theatre in Spanish which is shown in Pimampiro schools. They fill shoe boxes with school supplies and send them along with the puppets as gifts. The El Alisal students draw pictures that are digitally transformed into a calendar. Sales in Lehigh Valley raise $3200 which is applied to renovate the Andean school; new windows, paint, bathrooms, kitchen area, computer… Puppet Theatre is formed in Pimampiro, classes given to staff of pre-school program FODI and a play written about ecology. The puppets teach the local children to pick up trash and keep their environment clean. MoH presents to the Emmaus Rotary Club and is encouraged to submit a funding proposal. |
Summer 2006 MoH presents at Kutztown U. Dr. Vafeas, Dir. Social Dept. visits Pimampiro to access the possibility for Kutztown students to come and do social work. He meets 16 organizations and is delighted with the potential. MoH receives a generous $4000 grant from Ardath Rodale and Rodale Inc. for the EcoAndes project. MoH sponsors two workshops for Pimampiro farmers featuring Ing. Manuel Suquilanda, Ecuador's authority on organic agriculture. Donated Johnny's Seeds & Seeds of Change seeds plant rural community and school gardens. Lehigh Valley Elementary teachers donate additional funds and school supplies for Pimampiro schools. IntiDesigns, a fair-trade textile business is created and clothing samples made by Andean women. MoH supports Luis Angamarca weaving the traditional back-strap loom and provides materials for young artisans to apprentice. |
Fall 2006 MoH launches IntiDesigns with fashion shows in Pimampiro and Brookside Country Club, Macungie, PA involving LHV community members modeling and assisting. Two area boutiques carry the IntiDesign clothing line. MoH sponsors four girls from rural communities to attend Colegio Artesanal. Sue buys 27 pairs of school shoes. MoH donates eyeglasses and first aid kits to Pimampiro health organizations. Initial renovations at the EcoAndes Retreat Center begin and organic methods applied to the gardens. |
Winter 2006-'07 In partnership with FODI, MoH sponsors Pimampiro's first Children's Festival. 24 Lehigh Valley children form "IntiSingers" and learn four songs in Spanish which are video-taped and presented at the Children's Festival. Two of these songs are learned by FODI children who sing simultaneously at the event. MoH begins sponsorship of the indigenous dance group Dansa del Aqua and buys them traditional costumes. |
Spring 2007 MoH presents at the District 7430 2007 Rotary Convention - Intiligencia Program proposal submitted. MoH sponsors first IntiJourney with eight senior girls from Hartsbrook School, MA participating in an 8-day cultural "immersion" experience, doing social work, visiting communities, sharing songs and heart with all. MoH sponsors Quito Vice-Mayor Margarita Carranco to speak about Women's Rights in Pimampiro. A "dream come true"- we charter a bus and bring 32 Andean children to the ocean beach for their first time. |
Summer 2007 A "Friends of MoH" picnic is held in Emmaus featuring the debut of the HartsBrook IntiJourney film. Two LHV supporters, Minty Ray & Becky Eschelman, visit Pimampiro for two weeks of research and active input. Rotary Intiligencia Program approved, meetings held with the host Rotary Club of Ibarra, Ecuador Regional President of PASR, Ruth Roeder, donates large quantity of early childhood materials and books to Intiligencia Program MoH partners with Colegio Artesanal to house upcoming children's library, creative arts room & computer lab. MoH launches New Hope Sponsor Program providing tuition and school supplies securing education for 93 Colegio Artesanal students. |

Lehigh Valley philanthropist Linny Fowler hosts a special Christmas fundraiser for MoH at her home featuring a new video about recent projects in Ecuador. Two Lehigh Valley teachers join MoH on IntiJourney to Pimampiro to assist in Summer Puppet Arts Camp and social works projects. MoH staff Sue Brown and Paul Murtha do live radio interview on Bethlehem NPR station WDIY Emmaus Rotary Club receives MoH presentation on TRF funded Intiligencia Program and generously donates $1000 to MoH operating costs First Creative Arts Summer Camp opens for two weeks in Pimampiro with focus on puppetry. Thirty four children participate. MoH Puppet Troupe is invited to present original puppet stories for seven mountain communities during a seven day marathon. Custom stage, props and mobile audio are used. Montanas de Esperanza (MdE) is invited to be a partner with AroImba, a comprehensive agricultural program to enable 75 Pimampiro farm families to grow 90 acres of organic aromatic plants. MdE is approved to channel a $10,000 grant from US foundation "A Leg to Stand On" for Dr. Robert Frank, prothetics specialist, to provide vital artficial limbs for fifteen patients. MoH receives $4500 grant from the Prem Rawat Foundation to translate "Words of Peace" literature into the primary Andean indigenous language, Quichua. MoH and Colegio Artesanal partner in a plan to develop the school into a model educational facility. |

MoH sponsored Prosthesis Project: Arranged safe passage through customs of $60,000 in prostesis components for ALTSO and Robert Frank to work at the Ibarra Rotary Clinic serving 48 clients in two weeks. Visit to Pimampiro communities by Robert Frank and Rotary members who became sponsors of children through New Hope Sponsorship Robert Keller and Brandon Neal, two NYU graduates, arrive to assist in projects for a week, and stay for a month. They give English classes at Centro Artesanal, renovate a family's home, build furniture, play soccer and eat well. IntiJourney with NAWA Academy of N. California. Fourteen HS students participate in social service projects for five days, including an overnight with Andean families. MoH Director of Education Sue Brown continues creative arts classes with the students of Centro Artesanal Paul Murtha serves as project consultant for AROIMBA, a comprehensive regional program to grow aromatic plants organically with small farmers. Emmaus High School MoH Club is formed and raises funds for social service projects. Kichwa Project to translate videos of Words of Peace records audio tracks in studio with professional Kichwa speakers. In rural community of Chuga, the CreAccion Workshop, a carpentry classroom and production studio for educational games, is established with area youth. Easter in Colimburo - Paul spends Easter holiday with families in this mountain community and films a documentary on Andean life. 2009 Art Camp IntiJourney formed with Sue's prior students from Emmaus - a two week August session featuring a one week creative arts camp and visits to seven Andean communities for social service projects. Three special MoH guests arrive to Pimampiro: 1 - Ex Rotary District Govenor Roger Whitcomb visits Pimampiro for a week and announces new $23,500 Grant from Rotary International for MoH 2010 Programs, Roger gives financial support to his two New Hope Sponsor girls. 2 - teacher trainer and EcoClassroom Tour advisor Eddie Rodriquez visits for three weeks, Eddie gives teacher training sessions and partners with MoH for expansion of IntiJourneys 3 - adolescent counselor Kelly Griffin assists MoH youth and families for two months. Immersion Style Hands-on Art classes introduced at Centro Artesanal with students speaking only English, which causes such excitement that the Pimampiro mayor's wife and teachers from other schools visit to learn. Sue gives creative workshops to Colegio Nacional English teachers. MoH donates $500 for printing costs for 100 teachers booklets on topics of Children's Rights and Sexual Education. Paul presents Words of Peace video to seminar of Indigenous leaders who unanimously accept the videos as part of an initiative to reclaim values for youth. Words of Peace videos presented weekly in Kichwa communities, at the Ibarra Prison for 80 innates and on the TV station of Universidad Techica Norte. MoH partners with Fundacion Amor a la Vida in Carabuela indigenous community to support their children's development program. |
Amy Johnston of EcoLiving in Saranac lake, NY sets up fair trade enterprise with Amor a la Vida mothers to market knitted articles New Hope Sponsor girl Dalila finally receives a new roof on her home through a donation from Rotarian Roger Whitcomb and assistance from local Ex Peace Corp Volunteer, Roger Smith. "Family on Bikes" Vogels from Idaho arrive on their 2 1/2 year trek down the Pan Ameerican Hwy from Alaska to Chile. Nancy writes articles in support of MoH for a travel magazine and presents a travelog slide show at Centro Artesanal. Prosthesis Project founders Robert and Kit Frank return to Imbabura for two weeks of renewing peoples lives with new limbs. They include a day touring lovely rural Pimampiro. Paul and Sue return to US and present to Emmaus Kiwanis, Emmaus Rotary Club and for the Emmaus HS Mountains of Hope Club where ten students sign up for a Summer 2010 IntiJourney. Seventh Generation Charter School, Emmaus, Director Phil Arnold invites MoH to form a partnership to promote global educational exchange. |

New Hope Sponsor Prosthesis Project founders Robert and Kit Frank return to Perks on Main sponsors the MoH craft booth at the Emmaus Farmers Market for three weekends and Sue holds a special Holiday Craft Fair at her home. Paul returns to Ecuador December 13th to nurture existing projects and to develop 2010 programs. |
